Who Can Benefit?

Because the stability of your foundation has such an important impact on the health and wellbeing of your entire body, Functional Orthotic Therapy can benefit many different types of people with many different problems.

From the recent onset of plantar fasciitis to years of unbearable and yet otherwise baffling chronic pain, optimizing foot function can provide dramatic improvements in overall health and wellbeing and reductions in pain and dysfunction.

Naturally, the degree of benefit experienced will be dependent on a series of factors, such as age, weight, occupation, hobbies, previous injuries and genetics.

As a general rule, older bodies take longer to adapt to the changes in foot function created by functional orthoses than younger ones. Furthermore, those who are over-weight may have suffered proportionally more than their less heavy counterparts from even a relatively small foot function problem.

For those suffering symptoms shown to be caused by abnormal foot function, Functional Orthotic Therapy will provide considerable improvements in health and wellbeing in the vast majority of cases.

There will inevitably be instances where Functional Orthotic Therapy is not considered the best approach, but such cases are rare and in such situations, alternative methods of treatment can usually be advised.

Broadly speaking, if you suffer from one or more of the examples in one or more of the following categories, and if your symptoms have been shown not to be caused by an obivous pathology, disease or other known problem, Functional Orthotic Therapy is likely to benefit you:

  • Chronic Pain, such as back pain, leg pain, exhaustion and tiredness at the end of the day, constant neck and shoulder tension;
  • Recurrent injuries and pain, particularly plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, shin splints, knee problems, hip problems, back problems, shoulder pain, headaches or migraines;
  • Acute-on-chronic conditions, such as back pain or neck problems brought on after an accident or injury, but from which you have never fully recovered.
