Using This Site

Root2Being is unique. It provides a wealth of information that many will find new, interesting, and exciting, but also sometimes a little confusing and difficult to understand. This is not surprising; there are many original and existing concepts, ideas and discreet parcels of knowledge that have been put together in new and different ways.

The first few times you visit Root2Being, you may have a feeling of information overload. This is perfectly normal! To help you get to grips with the nature and style of the content, you can use the following summary to get a feel for what you will find and where.

The main structure of the site is made up of 7 "Channels": 1) Home; 2) About; 3) Foot Shape and Function; 4) Posture, Pain and Stress; 5) Functional Orthotic Therapy; 6) Rehabilitation and 7) Health and Wellbeing.

The front page of each channel provides a quick "At a Glance" summary of, and links to, selected contents.

There is a dedicated left hand menu in each channel from which you can navigate the entire content. The general nature of the content is progressive, with each menu item building on the findings of the former. Below is a brief overview of what you will find in each of these channels.

In addition, there is a right-hand menu on every page with links to information on the author, FAQ's, how to contact us, how to find a practitioner and how to find out if your footshape and function could be the cause of your problems.

1) Home
Homepage, general information, links to other parts of the site.

2) About
Why Root2Being was created, the reason behind the name, underlying principles and philosophy, the importance of a stable foundation and the concept of starting first with the feet before treating other parts of the body.

3) Foot Shape and Function
Explains the structure of the foot and how it works, why different foot shapes exist, what the different foot shapes are and how foot shape impacts foot function.

4) Posture, Pain and Stress
What posture is, how foot function impacts posture, how and why poor posture develops and what can be done to help prevent and reduce it. Outlines the effects that poor posture has on bones, weightbearing joints and soft tissues throughout the body.

5) Functional Orthotic Therapy
Discusses orthoses, the different types available and how they work. Explores the different ways of assessing foot function. Introduces Functional Orthotic Therapy as an holistic and long-term approach to improving foot function and health by combining the wearing of prescription orthoses with a range of other treatments, therapies and personal re-education opportunities to improve and maintain better health now and for the future.

6) Rehabilitation
Discusses how and why nutrition, movement, posture, seating, other chronic niggling health problems and sleep are most commonly affected by abnormal foot function. Explains what techniques and lifestyle changes can be used to help address these areas as your body adapts and changes to wearing custom orthoses and how they will improve your body's ability to heal and your own health for the future. Currently under construction.
