An Introduction
Hi, I'm Teresa, the creator of Root2Being and I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to this site. Whatever your reason for visiting, I hope you will find something that fires your curiosity to learn more about the relationship between foot function and health.
Root2Being is a new and unique concept in holistic healthcare. At its' heart lies my own personal story of the fight I had against chronic musculoskeletal pain, my fustration at not being able to determine what was wrong and my dedication to finding the root cause of my suffering. Two years on from identifying and controlling the root cause of my pain, I live a totally different life; one free of pain, so much less physical and emotional stress, and a spirit and soul so soothed and lifted by my experiences that I feel able to achieve almost anything.
I first decided to create a website highlighting the importance of foot function in November 2002. I had just found out about Functional Orthotic Therapy and been wearing my own orthoses for a few weeks. I was so amazed by the changes in my own body that I learnt everything I could about why and how the orthoses worked. The Chiropractor who had treated me was incredibly knowledgeable about this particular aspect of healthcare, and most importantly, how it interacted with other health problems and treatment options. It was a combination of her knowledge and my personal experiences that sowed the seeds which later grew into Root2Being.
The more I learnt about Functional Orthotic Therapy, the more evidence I found of the vast extent of abnormal foot function within the general population. Back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, M.E., and a myriad of other chronic yet mysterious musculoskeletal conditions are reaching epidemic levels, yet so much time, effort and money is being spent trying to alleviate the symptoms because it has so far not been possible to identify the cause. It was this realisation that encouraged me to develop the concept of a website into more than just a personal page of my own experiences. I set my sights on providing an educational source of information to increase awareness about abnormal foot function, what problems it can cause and what methods are available to control it.
The rest, as they say, is history. It's taken two and a half years to get the website to a state ready for launch on 2nd April 2005, yet I doubt it will ever be truly finished. Root2Being has evolved and changed during its' conception, and continuing development and change will be central to its' existence. I honestly have no idea how Root2Being will be accepted, although I hope it will generate interest and cause people to think twice about how best to improve their health in the long term. Despite this, I cannot fail to be aware of, although perhaps not totally prepared for the skeptical and critical appraisal it is bound to receive.
I would be honoured if you choose to take the time to absorb what Root2Being has to offer. Whether or not you like what you see, your feedback is much appreciated. Your ideas on what you would like to see more or less of in the future are also welcomed.
Thanks and best wishes,
